The Chief Administrative Officer (C.A.O.) is responsible for:

  • the administration of all departments of the Corporation
  • the implementation of  the Municipality's policies and procedures as set by Council resolution or by-law
  • as the Senior Staff  Members, reports to Council.  All Department Heads report to the CAO

 

The Clerk's Department is responsible for:

  • Record minutes of Council and Committee meetings
  • Ensure Council's decisions are communicated to all interested parties
  • Prepare and keep all Bylaws and Resolutions which are passed by Council
  • Act as the Local Registrar for all births and deaths
  • Act as Returning Officer for the Municipal Elections
  • Responsible for Statutory Duties under the Municipal Act, Line Fences Act, Drainage Act, Planning Act, Emergency Measures Act and other Statutes of Ontario
  • Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Coordinator
  • Issuer of Marriage Licenses and Lottery Licenses
  • Issuer of Burning Permits and Dog Licenses
  • Police Services Board


Council Meetings

Regular Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month (with some exceptions - holidays etc.. see the schedule of Council meetings for a complete list) beginning at 6:30 p.m.  These meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.  For further information, or to have an item placed on the agenda, please contact the Clerk's Office at 613-258-9569 ext. 110.  Taped Council meetings are televised on Cogeco Cable Channel 10 on the Tuesday following each Council meeting.  DVDs of the taped Regular Council Meetings are also available for loan from the Kemptville Library Branch.  (Please note that August meetings are not taped.)

Committee of the Whole Meetings 

Committee of the Whole meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month (with some exceptions - holidays etc..)  beginning at 6:30 p.m. These meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.
