The new year is upon us and our club has been busy after the Christmas break. Two students have been selected to participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange short term programme. Rotarians Vic & Nancy recently transported our students to Gananoque to attend their first outbound orientation.
Besides our normal housekeeping issues, we have also begun to get prepared for our participation in the North Grenville District High School Rotary Science Fair and Maplefest. More details to follow.
On a cheerful note, President Vic has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship sapphire award. He is seen pictured below receiving his award from ADG Cora.
This year's annual food drive for our community food banks was a great success. In addition to the food collected during the Santa Claus Parade, another drive was held with the assistance of the eQuinelle community.
Pictured below are members sorting the generous donations that were received
and delivery to one of the food banks.
In conjunction with the Municipality of North Grenville, our club hosted the largest Santa Claus Parade we have seen in several years. The weather was cooperative and families anxiously awaited the arrival of Jolly Old Saint Nick.
There was great joy as this couple arrived along the parade route.
The link below will take you to the CTV News coverage of the event.
Merry Christmas to all!
The Rotary Club of Kemptville is a group of like-minded people working to improve our community and have fun doing it. Ninety percent (90%) of our funds and actions are dedicated to local projects. Local projects we support include the Youth Centre, Camp Merrywood, House of Lazarus, the high school science fair as well as providing bursaries to deserving, graduating high school students.. We also promote local events like the annual Santa Claus Parade. We are part of a 1.2 million member global organization, and we do support some international work.
