2023 Seasonal Student Recruitment Program
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture is currently accepting applications for the following full and part-time spring/summer student positions.
Groundskeepers & Downtown Revitalization
Full-time positions. Valid Ontario G License, Standard First Aid and CPR Level-C Certification, understanding of appropriate safety precautions, ability to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks, demonstrated ability to work independently, and demonstrated ability to operate mechanical equipment. Requires safety boots.
Facility Attendants
Part-time positions. Standard First Aid and CPR Level-C Certification, understanding of appropriate safety precautions, ability to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks, demonstrated ability to work independently.
Pool Supervisor
Full-time Position. Minimum of two years of swimming program experience, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification, NL Certification, Lifesaving Society Instructor Certification (LS Advanced instructor certification considered an asset, but not required), experience in pool program development, implementation and evaluation, and proficiency in staff supervision, training, evaluation, and coordination. Per Ontario Regulation 565, candidates must be 16 years of age or older.
Head Guard
Full-time position. Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification, NL Certification, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification (LS Lifesaving Instructor Certification considered an asset, but not required), experience in pool program development, implementation and evaluation, and proficiency in staff supervision, training, evaluation, and coordination. Per Ontario Regulation 565, candidates must be 16 years of age or older.
Swim Team Coach
Full-time position. Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification, NL Certification, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification (LS Lifesaving Instructor Certification considered an asset, but not required), experience in pool program development, implementation, and evaluation. Per Ontario Regulation 565, candidates must be 16 years of age or older.
Lifeguard / Instructors
Full and part-time positions. Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification, NL Certification, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification (LS Lifesaving Instructor Certification considered an asset, but not required). Experience in pool program implementation and evaluation or experience working with children considered an asset. Per Ontario Regulation 565, candidates must be 16 years of age or older.
Cashiers - Pool
Part-time positions. Candidates require Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certification. Experience using a cash register, handling cash, and aquatics training/certifications considered assets.
