Highlights from the May 19, 2020 Council Meeting

North Grenville Impact and Response to COVID-19: CAO Gary Dyke provided a summary of the Municipality’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic commencing March 13, 2020, including the decisions and actions that were made in a proactive and responsive way. A modest financial relief package was established to support residents by offering property tax and water bill deferrals for a limited time. In addition, a $1.38 Million Cost Containment Plan/COVID-19 Reserve Fund was approved on April 1, 2020 to support local businesses and to mitigate the financial impacts on municipal operations related to COVID-19. Money was redirected from operating and capital costs to create this fund. The full presentation can be found on our website.

A message from the North Grenville Police Services Board: Protect yourself from Domestic Violence

NORTH GRENVILLE, ON – While there has not been an increase in calls to the local Grenville OPP related to abuse and assault to date, during the COVID-19 pandemic, some police services as well as the Leeds and Grenville Victim Services have reported an increase in calls particularly related to that of domestic violence.

NORTH GRENVILLE - Mayor Nancy Peckford issued the following statement on Public Works Week, which runs from May 17 to 23, 2020:

“This week, on behalf of myself, Public Works Liaison John Barclay, and our Council colleagues, we would like to pay tribute to the Municipality of North Grenville’s public works professionals, including engineers, roads crews, water quality employees, managers and others staff. We recognize the substantial contributions they make to ensure our community’s health, safety, and quality of life.

Rural Roadside Spraying 2019

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville's roadside herbicide spraying will be commencing along some County Roads. Please see the United Counties of Leeds Grenville website for all the information and the spray map.

Please be safe while enjoying North Grenville's outdoor recreational spaces, trails and parks. Be sure to ALWAYS maintain phsyical distancing with others and do not gather in groups. Thank you for your co-operation.

Playgrounds and other outdoor recreational amenities remain CLOSED. This includes soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and the skate park.

The Municipality's Tennis & Pickleball Courts will be open on May 19, 2020 at 12:00 pm. Please follow the updated guidelines.

NORTH GRENVILLE - Next Week, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville will be initiating preliminary design work for the County Road 43 Kemptville Creek Bridge expansion. As such, one lane of the bridge will be closed for a portion of next week between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

NORTH GRENVILLE, ON – The Road Safety theme for May is “Maintain your Speed.”

While there has been fewer cars on the roads during the COVID-19 pandemic, the OPP have noticed an increase in speeding and stunt driving on some highways. Stunt driving includes street racing and driving more than 50 km/hr over the posted limit.
