Cahl has been the Director of Corporate Services/Clerk for the Municipality of North Grenville since its inception in 1998, and prior to that served as Clerk for the Town of Kemptville and the Township of Oxford-on-Rideau prior to amalgamation. He also served as Councillor for the Town of Kemptville from 1988 to 1991.
“On behalf of myself, Deputy Mayor Jim McManaman and my Council colleagues, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to Cahl for his decades of dedication and service to the Municipality, and the community of North Grenville,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.
As a highly respected Clerk in Eastern Ontario, “Mr. Pominville helped countless Councils navigate the municipal world, and his expertise and attention to detail were hallmarks of his contribution and professionalism,” she added.
Mr. Pominville was also selected to sit on the Board of Directors of the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks & Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO) from 2008 to 2015, further underscoring the high regard with which he was held across the province.
“Cahl has brought incredible expertise and corporate history to the Municipality over the years, and it has been a pleasure working with him for the past 23 years,” said Karen Dunlop, Acting Chief Administrative Officer for the Municipality of North Grenville. “On behalf of former and current staff, we wish him all the best in his retirement,” Dunlop added.
Mr. Pominville has also touched the lives of the hundreds of couples whose marriages he has officiated over his esteemed career. In his free time, he enjoyed scouting for the Kemptville 73s, and more recently the Smiths Falls Bears.
“There is no doubt that the Municipality just won’t feel quite the same without him, but we wish Cahl all the best in what we know will be a busy and full retirement,” noted Peckford.
Members of the public are invited to share their best wishes at Cahl’s retirement party, set for Friday, November 29th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Municipality of North Grenville. Please RSVP to by November 22.
Mr. Pominville will be succeeded by Kimberley Casselman, who has recently been hired as the new Director of Corporate Services/Clerk.
