May 20, 2020

NORTH GRENVILLE - Mayor Nancy Peckford issued the following statement on Public Works Week, which runs from May 17 to 23, 2020:

“This week, on behalf of myself, Public Works Liaison John Barclay, and our Council colleagues, we would like to pay tribute to the Municipality of North Grenville’s public works professionals, including engineers, roads crews, water quality employees, managers and others staff. We recognize the substantial contributions they make to ensure our community’s health, safety, and quality of life.

North Grenville’s Public Works team is responsible for infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to the day-to-day operations, sustainability and resilience of our community.

Water and wastewater treatment, roads and bridges, traffic signals and lighting, sanitation, as well as winter maintenance and safety provide a glimpse into how the Municipality’s public works team contributes day in and day out so that North Grenville is a desirable place to live, work, play and invest.

As Councillor John Barclay noted, ‘Public works provides foundational services to our community. We know how integral public works staff are to North Grenville’s success, and appreciate their dedication.’

As a high growth community, the municipality’s public works team are working in a dynamic and ever changing environment. This week is an important opportunity for residents to better appreciate the importance of the vital work public works does for our community.”
