Pride Month will kick-off with a small Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, June 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. Owing to limits on gatherings of over five people, the public is unfortunately not invited.
“Although Council cannot all be here in person given the COVID-19 Provincial Orders, my Council colleagues and I are highly encouraged by the ongoing efforts of our local Pride community. We welcome the diversity that is shaping North Grenville” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.
“When we build a more inclusive and open-hearted community, everyone benefits,” added Deputy Mayor Jim McManaman.
Although we cannot come together and celebrate with a Pride Parade right now, we are together in spirit and hopeful for an opportunity to celebrate in person as a community in the fall,” said Devon Warren, President of Kemptville Pride festivities.
Kemptville Pride is a local not-for-profit community organization established to plan, fund, and organize Pride activities in the Kemptville area and to support LGBTQ2+ people and their families.
A Pride Parade was planned for June 2020, but has been postponed due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The committee is hopeful to host a public event in the fall.
