North Grenville Honours Police & Peace Officers’ on National Day of Recognition

September 25, 2020

NORTH GRENVILLE, ON – Municipal Flags will be lowered to half-mast on Sunday, September 27, in honour of Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day.

“On behalf of North Grenville’s Council, we honour the fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. We also take this opportunity to pay our respects to the surviving family members of these brave men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.

“On this occasion, we want to recognize the dedication of our local Grenville OPP and our own North Grenville By-law officers who do their jobs bravely, despite sometimes dangerous and unpredictable conditions,” she added.

On September 24, 1998, the Government of Canada officially proclaimed the last Sunday of September of every year as Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day.

National Memorial Day gives Canadians an opportunity each year to formally express appreciation for the dedication of those police and peace officers who have tragically lost their lives while keeping our country’s communities safe.
