North Grenville launches development of Tourism Strategy

October 1, 2020

North Grenville, ON –  The Municipality of North Grenville has begun the process of creating a coherent tourism strategy. The strategy will guide the Municipality's tourism efforts as an emerging toursim destination.

Following a competitive request for proposals, the Municipality has hired MDB Insight to conduct the strategic process. The final plan will be presented to Council at the end of February 2021.

“Tourism represents a critical opportunity for our community and our economy. North Grenville is a compelling and scenic destination for not just our own residents, but also those across Eastern Ontario,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.

“We are blessed with many exciting attractions including the wonderful Ferguson and Limerick Forests, the Rideau Canal Waterway, in addition to Kemptville Creek, walking trails, as well as diverse local businesses and so much more,” added Mayor Peckford.

This project was made possible through a Partnership Fund from RTO 9, the Regional Tourism Organization for South Eastern Ontario and the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.

The strategy will align with the recently completed Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan and the forthcoming Kemptville Campus Master Plan.

“The tourism and hospitality sector was one of the hardest hit during the pandemic, and the aim is for this strategy to help guide and grow the industry,” added Deputy Mayor Jim McManaman.

The strategic process will engage residents, business owners and industrystakeholders to provide input through a variety of ways, including workshops andinformation sessions to be announced later this Fall.
