Below are some highlights from the Regular Municipality of North Grenville Council Meeting held on Monday, August 24th, 2015.
Old Town Kemptville BIA By-Law: Council approved a new by-law regulating the Old Town Kemptville Business Improvement Area. The new by-law includes a number of changes that will allow for more effective governance including an increase in the number of Board members.
County Road 44 Multi-Use Pathway: Council approved an agreement with Novatech Engineering Consultants for the engineering and design of a multi-use pathway on County Road 44 north of County Road 43 to be part of the North Grenville trail system. The actual construction of the pathway is expected to take place in 2016.
Renaming of Streets: Council approved a by-law to rename County Road 24 from Prescott Street to French Settlement Road to VanBuren Street and to rename County Road 44 from Clothier Street to Curtis Avenue to Prescott Street. Agreement for Hydro Generation Installation: Council authorized an interim agreement between the Municipality, the Burritts Rapids Renewable Energy Association and Equinox Hydro to develop, own and operate a waterpower facility. The agreement establishes a Corporation to own and operate the installation with the Municipality as a 51% owner in the company and the other two parties holding 24.5% each. The agreement is another step in the process of establishing a hydro generation installation through the Provincial FIT program.
