Statement by Mayor Nancy Peckford on National Volunteer Week

April 20, 2021

NORTH GRENVILLE, ON – Mayor Nancy Peckford issued the following statement for National Volunteer Week 2021:

National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize and thank the incredible volunteers in our community, who have dedicated and contributed countless hours in helping to make our community stronger.

While this past year was different in the way we could contribute, we saw our community step up during challenging times and support one another.

We saw so many go above and beyond to work together for the greater collective good and to help neighbours, strangers and each other.

Some delivered groceries, drove seniors to appointments, conducted online auctions and other COVID-safe efforts to fundraise for important charitable organizations in North Grenville.

And of course, our dedicated Volunteer Firefighters stepped up repeatedly to serve  in very challenging circumstances, going above and beyond to respond to those in crisis.

This year’s theme, ‘The Value of One, The Power of Many’, reflects the awe-inspiring acts of kindness and the importance of our individual actions, while working together towards a collective purpose.

On behalf of my Council colleagues, and all of North Grenville, I want to recognize and thank all of the incredible volunteers in the community for all their selfless service. This community continues to show what we can accomplish wi to compassion, creativity and collaboration.
