OPP Response Time – North Grenville Library Incident

A concern has been raised in our community pertaining to police response to a call of an assault taking place recently outside the Public Library in Kemptville. Councillor Jim Bertram intervened to protect a woman and child in this incident. The information being circulated is that it took twenty minutes for the police to respond.

The North Grenville Police Services Board met on November 22 and this matter was brought forward for a report from Detachment Commander Inspector Bill Bolton.

Insp. Bolton reported that the Ontario Provincial Police Communication Centre received a telephone call reporting this incident at 3:36 p.m., a police unit was dispatched at 3:37 p.m. and a second unit at 3:38 p.m. The first unit was on scene at 3:42 p.m. which is a six minute response time which falls well within the standards of response time set out in Provincial policies and accepted by the North Grenville Police Services Board.

Police services to North Grenville residents are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Detachment Office at 236 County Rd. 44 provides administrative services Monday to Friday.
