Community Grants Program Receiving Applications for Canada 150 Community Events

In anticipation of Canada’s 150th birthday, North Grenville Council is providing one-time funding to the Community Grants Program to fund Canada 150-themed events.  The goal is to offer unique opportunities for the community to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial.

With the on-going success of the annual Canada Day festivities, Council felt that the 150th celebration was an excellent opportunity to provide some additional funding and contribute towards making 2017 a whole year of celebration,” explained Barb Tobin, Deputy Mayor and Council representative on the Community Grants Committee.

To support community groups celebrate Canada’s 150th throughout the anniversary year, the Municipality is inviting applications through an additional and immediate intake to the grant program. The deadline for this first application round is December 15th, 2016. This early intake will enable groups to begin planning and hosting events earlier in the year and it will give Council an opportunity during the budget process to measure interest and demand for increased investment in local celebrations of our culture and heritage during what is sure to be a remarkable year in our country.

The Community Grants Program annually receives applications in the spring and again in the fall if there are funds remaining.
