Council is enthusiastic about building on the success of last year’s budget consultation process which enabled community groups to work directly with the relevant Councillor in regards to particular budget proposals.
As part of the consultation process, two additional discussion forums have been established to enable residents to gain insight into the budgeting process and fully understand the current revenue and expenditure picture for the Municipality.
“We hope that individuals seize the occasion to participate in one of these sessions. As a new Council, we understand how important it to reflect the needs of the community in this budget, while always being fiscally responsible,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.
“Information is power and at every step along the way, we want residents and businesses to have the benefit of the information that Council will use to make its budget decisions,” Peckford added.
The first discussion forum is scheduled for Monday, February 4 at Maplewood Hall (92 Maplewood Ave., Oxford Mills) beginning at 7:00 p.m. The second forum will be held on Thursday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Grenville Municipal Centre, Halls B & C (285 County Rd 44)
The municipality expects the evening forum on Monday February 4th to be streamed live over social media so individuals can watch from home (pending confirmation of logistics). More details will be forthcoming.
Following the discussion forums, the rest of the budget-related meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Municipal Centre and will live streamed via www.northgrenville.ca on the following dates:
- February 13 – Receive community requests
- February 20 – Decisions on community requests
