NOTICE: Temporary Traffic Controls at Burritts Rapids Swing Bridge

April 24, 2019 UPDATE: Parks Canada would like to advise that vehicles may encounter short delays at the Burritt’s Rapids Swing Bridge on Thursday, April 25. Traffic control staff will be onsite as lines are painted on the road approaches to the one-lane swing bridge.

April 18, 2019, Smiths Falls, ON – Parks Canada would like to advise that vehicles may encounter short delays at the Burritts Rapids Swing Bridge on Tuesday, April 23. Traffic control staff will be onsite as lines are painted on the road approaches to the one-lane swing bridge. This work is weather dependent and a rain date has been set for Wednesday, April 24. 

Work to repair the swing bridge was completed in fall 2018. This work is a part of Parks Canada’s $3 billion investment to support infrastructure work to heritage, visitor, waterway, and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas across Canada. These investments represent the largest federal infrastructure plan in the history of Parks Canada.
