Task Force on Affordable Housing – Interim Report presented

The Task Force on Affordable Housing identified and put forward 17 recommendations in its Interim Report and will present its final report to the Committee of the Whole in February 2020. The Task Force was created to examine the current state of affordable rental housing and home ownership, identify gaps and opportunities and identify actions the Municipality can take to increase options and access to affordable housing.

Site Plan Approved for Development at 224 Jack Street

Council entered into a site plan agreement for a development that will see 3 one-storey townhouses with a total of 11 units built at 224 Jack Street. The project is a partnership between Community Living North Grenville and Lockwood Brothers Construction and aims to provide affordable housing for low income families, seniors and people with disabilities.

North Grenville Police Services Board – 2019 Community Survey Update

The North Grenville Police Service re-launched the 2019 Community Survey to gather input from the public to help identify local priorities for the delivery of police services in the Municipality. With less than 250 responses to date, the survey is being extended for another 4 weeks. The survey is available here. Hard copies can be picked up from the Municipal Office (258 County Rd. 44) and the Public Library (1 Water St.). The survey will be available until Friday, October 11, 2019.

Endorsement of the Active School Travel Charter

Recently, the Municipality of North Grenville, through the Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture partnered with the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit and other key stakeholders to implement an Active School Travel project funded by the Ontario Active School Travel Fund. At Tuesday night’s meeting, Council endorsed the Active School Travel Charter as a commitment to working toward improvements to support safe and sustainable active school transportation.
