North Grenville Honours Police & Peace Officers’ on National Day of Recognition

September 27, 2019

North Grenville, ON – Municipal Flags will be lowered to half-mast on Sunday, September 29 in honour of Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day.

“On behalf of North Grenville Council, we honour the fallen officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and pay our respects to the surviving families of those brave men and women who died in the line of duty,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.

On September 24, 1998 the Government of Canada officially proclaimed the last Sunday of September of every year as Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day. This National Memorial Day gives Canadians an opportunity each year to formally express appreciation for the dedication of police and peace officers, which made the ultimate tragic sacrifice to keep our communities safe.
