Municipality of North Grenville Dedicates Waterfront Trail in Honour of Former Councillor

October 24, 2019

NORTH GRENVILLE, ON - The Municipality of North Grenville is dedicating the Waterfront Trail in honour of former Councillor Terry Butler, who passed away on May 30, 2017.

Terry Butler was a Councillor for North Grenville for eleven years. During his tenure at the municipality, he spearheaded a number of legacy projects including Anniversary Park, the Giving Garden, and the Waterfront Trail.

Terry first brought forward the idea in 2001, calling it the Kemptville Creek Boardwalk. The Trail extension was completed in 2017.

“Terry’s vision and tenacity over several years was the main reason that the Waterfront Trail came to fruition,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.

“North Grenville is proud of its trail system and The Waterfront Trail is an important link that connects downtown Kemptville,” added Councillor Doreen O’Sullivan, Liaison for Parks, Recreation and Culture.

The Dedication Ceremony will take place Saturday, October 26 at 3pm, on the Waterfront Trail at Curry Park in Kemptville.

Terry’s widow Josie Butler, family and friends will be present and we welcome members of the community to come and share in this official ceremony.
