North Grenville Celebrates International Day of La Francophonie

NORTH GRENVILLE, ON – The Municipality of North Grenville recognizes the International Day of La Francophonie on March 20, 2023, as designated by UNESCO.

“International Day of La Francophonie is an opportunity to recognize our commitment to the French language and celebrate Canada’s rich and diverse francophone culture, in our community and around the world,” highlighted Mayor Nancy Peckford.

With over 300 million French speakers in the world, today is an opportunity to celebrate the French language alongside 88 other French-speaking countries.

North Grenville is proud to have both the French Catholic and French Public School Boards offering primary and secondary education on the Kemptville Campus. In addition, the Campus is offering post-secondary Apprenticeship programs in both official languages.

North Grenville also offers strong French Immersion programs by the English Catholic and English Public School Boards.

“Council recognizes the growing number of Francophone and bilingual residents who live in North Grenville, and who actively contribute to the fabric of our community – making us stronger and more vibrant as a result,” added Councillor Kristin Strackerjan.

On behalf of Council, Happy International Day of La Francophonie!
