Ribbon Skirt Workshop
Prepare for Ribbon Skirt Day with North Grenville's Indigenous Advisory Circle as they make ribbon skirts. Limited supplies will be provided, and guests are also encouraged to bring their own. Volunteers will provide sewing machines and teachings. There is no fee to attend, but donations to the development of Mino-jichaag Mtigwaaki are greatly appreciated.
Ribbon Skirt Day was created after an Indigenous youth experienced bullying for wearing a traditional skirt to school. Parliament subsequently passed legislation and the day was first celebrated in 2023. It takes place every year on January 4.
