Red Cross Babysitting Course

Ages 11 to 15 years

Learn to meet the challenges of babysitting and develop skills to cope with common emergencies, prevent injuries and keep children safe.

The course covers caring for infants and young children, diapering, feeding, age appropriate toys and games, household safety and basic first aid. Show parents that you take your job seriously!  Register today and become a trained babysitter.

Leaders-in-Training (Summer only)

Ages 13 to 16 years

Introduces the basics of leadership in a recreation setting by providing training sessions and a minimum of three weeks of hands-on placement to apply new skills and gain valuable practical experience. Participants will be closely supervised and have the benefit of frequent evaluation and feedback regarding their progress. Successfully completing this program can provide youth with a certificate of participation, a professional reference for future employers, and the opportunity to complete mandatory volunteer hours for high school curriculum. This course is also an excellent preparation course for future North Grenville camp program staff.

Where: North Grenville Municipal Centre

Training Days (mandatory attendance): June 10, 11 & 29, 2017 - 9am to 4pm all days.

Registration Cost: $200 resident / $210.00 non-resident (does not include meals)

Experience Placement:

Must complete a minimum of three weeks between July 3 and September 1, 2017, scheduled in consultation with the Recreation Coordinator. Weekly schedule will be Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Participants will be placed within one of our summer camp programs as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator, and may have the opportunity to experience more than one camp setting throughout their placement.
