Comprised of an urban center (Kemptville) and surrounded by several charming rural hamlets, North Grenville is situated between Canada’s National Capital – Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Strategy, the Climate Action Co-op Student is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Climate Action Plan.

Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of post-secondary environmental science program.
  • Valid "G" license with clean driver's abstract.
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment and demonstrated experience with database management.

Position Description:

  • Assist with the implementation of the newly adopted Climate Action Plan.
  • Assist with the creation of related initiatives and programs.
  • Support the development and delivery of presentations, surveys, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Assist with event planning and logistics.
  • Provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and correspondence related to the work.
  • Help to facilitate internal and external meetings and engagement processes to advance energy and climate action initiatives.
  • Update and maintain municipal website content related to energy and climate action.
  • Support local energy and climate data collection and analysis needs.
  • Utilize and build professional communications and engagement skills to complete annual sustainability reporting.
  • Carry out research and summarize findings in various formats.
  • Assist in the development of communications and education materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Work is conducted in an office environment, ability to sit or stand, often in front of a computer monitor, for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move objects of under 50 pounds
  • Attend meetings, and training as required
  • Some travel involved outside of the Municipality for meetings, conferences, and training as required.

Compensation:

  • The salary for this position is $17.60/hour.
  • Based on a 35-hour work week. Regular office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
