Comprised of an urban center (Kemptville) and surrounded by several charming rural hamlets, North Grenville is situated between Canada’s National Capital – Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Manager of Economic Development, the Marketing Student will support the implementation of key economic development initiatives related to the Municipality’s Strategic Plan and Economic Development Strategy, including business retention and expansion, investment attraction, business support programs, communications, marketing, and related research and administrative activities.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Support the Municipality’s economic development initiatives related to the Strategic Plan and Economic Development Strategy
- Assist with business retention and expansion activities, including research, outreach, and follow-up
- Support local business development initiatives and provide general information to entrepreneurs and investors
- Develop communications, social media content, and promotional materials for economic development programs and projects
- Assist with administrative tasks, research, data collection, and reporting related to economic development priorities
- Attend meetings and support projects as part of the North Grenville Economic Development team
- Assist with investment attraction efforts, business support programs, and special initiatives as they arise
- Prepare and distribute program materials, newsletters, and other communications
- Maintain awareness of local economic conditions, key sectors, and community assets (including tourism where applicable)
- Provide professional assistance and guidance to business owners seeking information on municipal programs and services
This position offers hands-on experience in marketing and communications through economic development initiatives while engaging with local businesses and community stakeholders. The student will contribute to creating compelling content that supports business growth, investment attraction, and municipal priorities, while developing practical skills in a professional environment.
Responsibilities will include content creation, social media support, basic website updates, development of promotional materials, assistance with economic development programs and initiatives, and support for municipal projects, events, and business outreach activities
Qualifications:
Essential (minimum) Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of post-secondary education in business, management, marketing, communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while taking direction and meeting deadlines
- Ability to work in collaboration with the Tourism Administrator and other municipal staff
- Ability to contribute ideas and support the implementation of tourism initiatives and projects
- Creative thinking skills to support tourism priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
Asset (preferred) Qualifications:
- Related experience working in a municipal government or related field
Compensation:
The salary for this position is $17.60/hr based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week. May include work outside regular office hours, including evenings and/or weekends, as required.
