Comprised of an urban center (Kemptville) and surrounded by several charming rural hamlets, North Grenville is situated between Canada’s National Capital – Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Manager of Economic Development, the position supports the planning, development, and implementation of marketing and communications programs that advance the goals of the Tourism Department. The student will assist with initiatives that support and promote local tourism operators, businesses, community events, and attractions, including website updates, social media communications, the marketing and distribution of the North Grenville Tourism Guide, and the implementation of North Grenville’s Tourism Strategy through destination marketing, visitor engagement, partnership support, and promotional activities.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Promoting tourism events, attractions, and visitor experiences
- Assisting with digital tourism marketing and online promotions
- Developing tourism materials (e.g., brochures, maps, signage)
- Updating tourism content on municipal websites
- Creating and scheduling tourism-focused social media posts
- Supporting marketing and distribution of the North Grenville Tourism Guide
- Assisting with visitor services and Tourism Strategy initiatives
- Working with local tourism operators and community partners
- Supporting tourism outreach and community events
- Maintaining knowledge of local attractions and amenities
- Collecting basic visitor data and feedback
- Performing other related duties as required
This position offers experience in marketing and communications through tourism initiatives while engaging with the community. The students will contribute to creating compelling content that promotes North Grenville and develop practical skills for working in a professional environment.
Responsibilities will include content creation, social media support, basic website updates, development of promotional materials, assistance with tourism initiatives, and support for municipal events and activities.
Qualifications:
Essential (minimum) Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or related program at a recognized post-secondary educational institution
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while taking direction and meeting deadlines
- Ability to work in collaboration with the Tourism Administrator and other municipal staff
- Ability to contribute ideas and support the implementation of tourism initiatives and projects
- Creative thinking skills to support tourism priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
Asset (preferred) Qualifications:
- Related experience working in a municipal government or related field
Compensation:
The salary for this position is $17.60/hr. based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week. May include work outside regular office hours, including evenings and/or weekends, as required.
