Comprised of an urban centre (Kemptville) and surrounded by several charming rural hamlets, North Grenville is situated between Canada’s National Capital - Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination.

The Municipality of North Grenville is seeking to fill 9 (nine) Seasonal Winter Contract Equipment Operator positions within the Public Works Department. These seasonal contract positions are anticipated to run from November 23, 2026, to April 4, 2027. Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Roads Foreman, the Seasonal Winter Equipment Operator is responsible for performing winter maintenance/control activities of the road and sidewalk system by operating snowplows, sand/salt trucks, sidewalk equipment and winter control machinery and equipment as assigned.

The position will provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive image of the Municipality while conducting maintenance and control activities of the property.

Qualifications:

The position requires a Valid Class “DZ” Driver’s license and drivers abstract in good standing.

A proven ability through a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the operation of roads maintenance/construction equipment, such as a road grader and/or backhoe and/or loader.

Working Conditions:

  • Severe weather: Regular exposure to heavy snow, freezing rain, high winds, and low temperatures.
  • Physical effort: Tasks include heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), climbing onto large machinery, and shoveling or manual labour.
  • Safety gear: Mandatory use of CSA-approved steel-toe boots, high-visibility clothing, and personal protective equipment.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is $29.76 to $37.19 per hour.
