Climate change is about more than just warmer temperatures. It is also about changes in weather that affect our daily lives, our health, and our local economy.
Here are some of the ways it is showing up:
- Weather is becoming less predictable, with stronger storms and uneven rainfall
- Farmers are facing more uncertainty with growing seasons and crop conditions
- Heating and cooling homes and businesses can cost more as temperatures swing more widely
- Flooding and wildfire risks are increasing, which can affect insurance costs
- Hotter days, smoke, and changing air quality can affect health, especially for older adults, children, and people with health conditions
- New pests and diseases are appearing in some areas
North Grenville’s well-being is closely tied to the health of our natural environment. When nature is under stress, it can affect things like food production, infrastructure, public health, and household costs.
That is why North Grenville is working on a Climate Action Plan (CAP) to help better understand these changes and support a healthier, more resilient community for the future.
As this work progresses, new information, opportunities, and actions will continue to emerge. Please check back regularly for updates and ways to stay informed and involved.
