North Grenville Set to Defend Title as "Canada's Most Active Community"
Last year, despite the challenges of Covid times, North Grenville was crowned Canada’s Most Active Community. Having won the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge, the Municipality of North Grenville was awarded $100,000 and this money is being invested in local park improvements this year.
In 2022, we do not intend to slow down!
Be a Partner in This Year’s Challenge
The North Grenville Health, Wellness and Fitness Advisory Committee is seeking partners to help keep our residents active and defend our title!
- Partner in our special launch event and Health & Wellness Expo at Riverside Park on June 4 where you can lead or participate in group physical activity and/or have a booth to promote your relevant business or organization.
- If you are in the business of active programming, you can sign up as an organization and track your group’s active minutes throughout the month of June on the ParticipACTION website. Schools can log physical education class participation, teams and clubs can log minutes for practices and games, and gyms can log group workouts. If active programming isn’t your main gig, or if it’s not your club’s active season, create a special event or program to engage your members/clients in physical activity. Last year we saw child care centre dance parties, step challenges, neighbourhood challenges and clean up days, and a cartwheel contest with the Mayor.
- Encourage your members/clients to log their individual physical activity in the ParticipACTION app through the month of June. Follow our social media channels and share our messaging, and create your own messaging to help spread the word using our hashtag #GetActiveNG. Donate prizes to help us motivate the community at events and through social media campaigns.
Reach out to discuss your ideas for partnership – every active minute counts! Whether participating in sports, walking the dog, or working in the garden. Get creative and let us know how you can join in. Email:
In addition to supporting our bid for the win, your participation can help raise your profile in the community as we will promote opportunities and share stories in a variety of ways throughout the month of June. Physical activity is important for everyone, at every age, and we want our residents to build connections and remain engaged in a healthy and active lifestyle year round.
Who can Participate?
The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is a national physical activity initiative that encourages Canadians to get active in search of Canada's Most Active Community.
It is open to all individuals, organizations and businesses. All minutes tracked on the app and website from June 1 – 30 count toward North Grenville's total score.
We are so pleased that several schools, daycares, teams, clubs and and gyms have already gotten on board. Amazing! As long as the instructors/coaches have registered on the website with ParticipACTION, gym classes, outdoor clubs, recreational activities, and outside play minutes are easy to count!
If you know of an organization that isn’t participating and needs help signing up for a group account, contact .
