North Grenville, ON - The Municipality of North Grenville’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee (EDIAC) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Fund. A total of $15,000 has been awarded to support five outstanding community initiatives that reflect and promote EDI values across North Grenville.
Each project has been awarded $3,000 to help advance inclusion, amplify diverse voices, and create welcoming spaces for underrepresented groups:
- Interactive Author Reading Event – Aims to inspire 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, young audiences, and girls in STEM by showcasing diverse role models and challenging stereotypes in science and technology.
- Prayer Events for the Muslim Community – Provides dedicated spaces for worship and fosters community connectivity and spiritual inclusion.
- Inclusive Community Choir – Led by Community Living, this initiative creates a safe and joyful space where individuals of all abilities can participate and feel heard.
- Intentional Learning & Development Programs for Girls 9+ – Features workshops on period education, menstrual health, healthy relationships, boundaries, and consent in an inclusive environment.
- 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Programming – Supports a community group in offering safe, inclusive programming for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, including a group trip to Calypso Waterpark.
“We are encouraged to see such diverse initiatives that foster understanding, celebrate our differences, and recognize the needs of a variety of constituents in our community,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.
These projects reflect the EDIAC’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a community where all residents - regardless of identity, ability, or background - feel seen, heard, and supported.
Looking Ahead: EDI Fund Policy Update for 2026
Beginning in 2026, the EDI Fund Policy will be updated to prioritize new or enhanced initiatives. Future funding will emphasize program sustainability, with the goal that programs receiving initial support will be equipped to continue independently.
The EDIAC is grateful to all applicants and looks forward to continued collaboration in building a more inclusive North Grenville.
