The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) is undertaking the detail design for the pavement rehabilitation on Highway 416, between County Road 43 and Century Road through the Municipality of North Grenville and the City of Ottawa. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026. A key map showing the location of the study area is below.
The proposed work for this project includes:
- Resurfacing of the southbound and northbound lanes of Highway 416 between County Road 43 interchange and Century Road (19km)
- Resurfacing all southbound and northbound ramps at Roger Stevens Drive, Dilworth Road and Rideau River Road interchanges
- Guiderail improvements
- Resurfacing ramps at the Kemptville Truck Inspection Station.
All pavement resurfacing activities will be restricted to the existing Highway 416 surface and interchange ramps. This work is expected to be bundled with the replacement of three structural culverts on Highway 416, between Roger Stevens Drive to Third Line Road, for which correspondence has previously been issued.
There are no anticipated full closures of Highway 416 associated with the proposed improvements; however, motorists can expect temporary traffic delays due to Highway 416 lane reductions and short duration ramp closures.
Advanced signing will be placed advising motorists of any ramp and/or lane closures.
