Beginning Tuesday, June 30, Clean Water Works Inc. will begin sanitary and storm sewer cleaning in some of downtown Kemptville. The work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. See map for affected areas.
Sewer cleaning is completed using a high-pressure cleaning nozzle that flushes away dirt, grease, and other minor obstructions to help keep the system operating efficiently. Most homeowners will not be affected or experience any disruption to service. However, there is a small possibility that some homeowners may experience temporary noise and odours during the cleaning process.
As a precaution, we recommend:
- Keeping toilet lids closed when they are not in use.
- Flushing toilets after each use.
- Pouring approximately 2 litres of water into infrequently used drains or plumbing fixtures before and after the work to ensure the drain trap remains full and helps prevent odours.
In rare cases, you may notice a small amount of water around a toilet or floor drain. This is simply water from the drain trap that can be wiped up.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we complete this important sewer maintenance work.
