Municipal Flags Lowered to Half-Mast to Honour fallen Firefighters.

Lucas Claude Jacob Champagne, a 19 year old volunteer firefighter with Edwardsburg Cardinal, passed away in Spencerville on April 28, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 5 at 3:00 pm at Kemptville Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 805 Prescott Street. Donations may be made in Lucas's memory to: Edwardsburg/Cardinal Fire Dept., P.O. Box 129 Spencerville, ON K0E 1X0.

As well, two other firefighters died in Quebec earlier this week after being swept away by floodwaters. Régis Lavoie, 55, and 23 year old Christopher Lavoie were swept away by floodwaters during a rescue operation in Saint-Urbain, Quebec on May 1. Their bodies were recovered on Wednesday, May 3.
