Public Notice: Thursday, April 6th Storm Update

Public Works is working diligently, and in conjunction with Hydro, to assess and establish basic road safety before beginning cleanup.

All roads are currently open, though there may be some delays with trees, branches, and hydro lines being down and causing delays. Please call 613-258-9569 ext 133 for downed trees blocking roads.

Maplewood Hall in Oxford Mills is now open as a warming and charging centre until 8 p.m. with bottled water available. Access to water for livestock is available at the Oxford Mills Municipal garage, 96 Maplewood Ave., behind Maplewood Hall at the gas tank end of the garage.

The Municipal Centre is open with a warming and charging centre located on the arena side, though the ice surfaces are closed. Refillable water stations are available; bring your own containers. A hose is accessible outside at the east end of the building (back of arena) for larger containers. Two Customer Service Representative's are available until 5 p.m. for regular Municipal transactions.

The Waste Transfer station is closed today to contractors and will reopen Saturday 9-4 with free residential yard brush drop-off (no stumps, please) and will continue accepting it on the regularly scheduled days of opening. For the regular schedule, please see the Waste Transfer Station page.

Waste Collection: Emterra is running as regularly scheduled today, as well as picking up yesterday’s delayed waste and recycle. Please note that tomorrow’s (April 7th) waste and recycle pick up will be delayed until Saturday (April 8th) due to the Easter holiday.

Avoid unnecessary travel if possible, including avoiding parks and trails, and be cognizant of road and sidewalk hazards, as well overhead dangers including wires, trees, falling ice. If a downed tree is touching power lines on a municipal / county road, the municipality can’t assist until it is safe to do so; the safety of our employees will take precedence.

If trees are blocking roads, please call the Municipality at: 613-258-9569 ext. 133 (until 5 pm); 613-787-5651 (after hours) Stay clear of downed lines and call Hydro One directly at 1-800-434-1235.

Contact your home insurance for any residential storm-related damage to your property. Exercise extreme caution, especially with children and pets, near waterways as water is moving faster and is at an elevated level. Please leave 911 open for life safety emergencies and fires; for non-emergency issues contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated regularly. Thank you kindly for your continued patience.
