Alternatively, for a more leisure journey, North Grenville offers the historic Rideau River managed by Parks Canada.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Roads Foreman, this position is responsible for operating heavy machinery and equipment, primarily a road grader, to support construction, maintenance, repair, and emergency response services for rural and/or urban road services, with a strong emphasis on public safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a road grader, and may include operating a variety of large equipment, machinery and trucks in assigned tasks related to the maintenance of the public roads system, including emergency works.
• Perform winter maintenance of the road system by primarily operating a road grader, but may also include snow ploughs, sand/salt trucks, dump trucks, sidewalk equipment and winter control machinery and equipment.
• Perform maintenance of roadsides and other Municipally owned properties including signage, litter pick-up, brushing, trimming and removal of trees and shrubs, and grass cutting.
• Operate and maintain appropriate large equipment, machinery and trucks, and performs work related to road construction projects, road repairs, culvert installations, asphalting (cold and hot patch), sign installations.

• Operate and adhere to a variety of health and safety standard operating procedures and MTO guidelines and safety regulations.
• Perform administration functions as designated by the Roads Foreman including health and safety inspections, preparing incident reports as required.
• Ensure excellent customer service ensuring a positive image of the Municipality and ensuring that municipal roadways and services are profiled in a positive manner

Qualifications:
• The position requires a Valid Class “DZ” Driver’s license and drivers abstract in good standing. A Valid and in good standing Class “AZ” Driver’s license considered an asset.
• A proven ability through a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the operation of roads maintenance/construction equipment, such as a road grader and/or backhoe and/or loader and other relevant equipment.
• Previous experience with winter maintenance/ control activities is also required.

Compensation:
• The salary range is $29.12 to $ 36.39 hourly with pension and benefits and is based on a forty (40) hour workweek. Includes after hours including evenings and/or weekends, as necessary.
