Tourism Community Improvement Plan (CIP)

A CIP is a tool for municipalities to use to encourage property owners, businesses and developers to undertake projects that enhance the community. By offering incentives, the CIP helps boost local investment and supports economic growth.

This project follows a number of our local policies and strategies, including our 2020 Tourism Strategy. Leveraging our location near the National Capital Region, the Municipality is committed to supporting and enhancing our tourism products and experiences for travelers from near and far. These include those that leverage our rural character, historic charm, recreational assets, and agri-tourism opportunities.

Public Meeting Regarding Proposed Tourism Community Improvement Plan

Municipality of North Grenville will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, June 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Grenville Municipal Centre (285 County Road 44) to consider a proposed Tourism Community Improvement Plan (CIP), permitted under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990, as amended. The proposed community improvement project area would be the entirety of the municipality.

The proposed Tourism CIP will incentivize the creation of new overnight accommodations and a series of tourism-related investments, supporting the Municipality’s Tourism Strategy and advancing its opportunities related to agri-tourism, festivals and events, outdoor experiences, among others.

The proposed CIP has been informed by various inputs including a community survey, Council direction, a rigorous background review, data analysis, and industry feedback.

The draft CIP will include a variety of proposed financial incentive programs to promote, among others:

  • The construction of new hotels/multi-unit accommodation and short-term stays
  • On-farm tourism
  • Façade, signage, and/or landscaping improvements
  • Infrastructure that supports tourism, including trails and cycle touring
