Council Celebrates North Grenville’s 2026 Civic Awards Recipients at a Special Ceremony on the Eve of National Volunteer Week
North Grenville, ON – As North Grenville celebrates National Volunteer Week from April 19 to 25, the Municipality is proud to honour 12 exceptional community members recognized at the Municipality’s 2026 Civic Awards.
Their volunteerism, leadership, compassion, and commitment continue to shape and strengthen our community in meaningful ways.
Mayor Nancy Peckford said the timing of the awards is especially meaningful:
“National Volunteer Week is a wonderful reminder of how much our community is strengthened through the generosity of others. Our Civic Awards recipients represent the very best of North Grenville, and we are so appreciative for the care, time and commitment they bring to making this a strong, more connected, and more compassionate place to call home,” said Mayor Peckford.
We’re proud to recognize the outstanding recipients of the 2026 Civic Awards:
- Marguerite “Maggie” Boyer – 2026 Citizen of the Year
- Victor Desroches – 2026 Volunteer of the Year
- Stephen Elliott – Health and Wellness Award
- Susan Jenkins – Compassionate Care Award
- Stephanie Mackie – Youth Support Award
- Cooper Morris – Youth Support Award
- Darrell Nunn – Recreation, Sport and Leisure Award
- Catherine Potts-Halpin – Arts and Culture Award
- Nathan Rogers – Compassionate Care Award
- Jim Ross – Youth Support Award
- Beth Tilbury – Exemplary Work in the Community Award
- Spring Williams – Recreation, Sport and Leisure Award
On behalf of Council, Mayor Peckford also thanked all of the nominators who took the time to shine a light on the contributions of their neighbours, friends, colleagues and fellow community members. Their submissions helped to ensure that outstanding service and the spirit of generosity are highlighted and celebrated.
The Civic Awards program reflects the many ways residents strengthen North Grenville’s quality of life, from direct acts of kindness to long-standing contributions across local organizations, events and initiatives.
