In Memory of Terry Thompson

In Memory of Terry Thompson

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our colleague and friend, Terry Thompson. Terry was a long-time Skate Patrol employee with the Municipality of North Grenville, where he brought joy, warmth, and a sense of community to everyone who crossed his path.

Terry will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the positive impact he had on so many lives. His contributions to local sports and recreation have left a lasting legacy that will continue to be felt for years to come.

In a statement, Mayor Nancy Peckford shared the following tribute:
“Terry was one of the most recognized faces of public skating in North Grenville for over a decade as a skate patroller. He was also a long standing, highly motivated volunteer for the Kemptville 73s. His ever-present smile, kindness, enthusiasm, and steady presence at the rink touched countless families and residents. On behalf of Council and the Municipality, I extend our deepest condolences to Terry’s family, his beloved wife Brenda who has worked alongside him as a ticket sales attendant since their arrival in North Grenville, as well as friends, and colleagues. He will be dearly missed, but his remarkable legacy of warmth and community spirit will live on.”

To honour Terry’s memory, the Municipality will be offering a free public skate at the North Grenville Municipal Centre:
Free Adult Skate – Wednesday, October 1, 2025 | 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Free Family Skate – Wednesday, October 1, 2025 | 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

During these memorial skates, those wishing to make a donation in Terry’s memory are welcome to do so at the rink. Contributions will go to the Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund, which supports young hockey players—a cause Terry believed in deeply.

Terry’s presence on and off the ice made North Grenville a better place. He will be dearly missed.
