Statement from Mayor Nancy Peckford on passing of Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney

NORTH GRENVILLE - On behalf of Council and the Municipality of North Grenville, I would like to take this opportunity to pay our respects to the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, former Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Mulroney was elected in 1984 and served as Canada’s 18th prime minister until 1993. During this time, he served our nation with distinction, leading our country through a significant transformation playing a significant role in the creation of the North American Free Trade Agreement, which has continued to have a lasting impact on our economy.  

Prime Minister Mulroney will be remembered for his distinguished career and dedication to public service. His legacy of cooperation and collaboration will help shape the politics of Canada for years to come.

We also extend our thoughts and condolences to the Mulroney family.

North Grenville’s flags have been lowered to half-mast in Mr. Mulroney’s honour.
