This, June 21, 2021, marks the 25th anniversary of celebrating the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

“North Grenville’s Municipal Council would like to take this opportunity to recognize the unique heritage, cultures and traditions of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples across Ontario and Canada,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.
NORTH GRENVILLE, ON - Flags at the North Grenville Municipal Centre will be lowered to half-mast to honour the lives of the 215 children found in a mass grave at a residential school in Kamloops, B.C. Flags will remain lowered for 215 hours (9 days) to represent one hour for each child.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville has retained AECOM Canada Ltd. to complete the detailed design for the four-lane widening of County Road 43 from 200 metres west of County Road 44 to 220 metres east of Colonnade Drive, in Kemptville, Ontario.

When I ran for Mayor, I had a clear vision for our community. Two things were not part of that vision: a global pandemic and a new correctional facility.

September 30th has been declared annual Orange Shirt Day, in recognition of the harm that the residential school system imposed upon Indigenous children’s sense of identity, self-esteem and well-being. It highlights the multi-generational trauma that survivors and their families experienced, and serves as an opportunity to underscore that all children matter, indigenous and non-indigenous.

On August 27, Premier Ford, alongside Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, and Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds, Grenville, Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, announced plans to build a new Greater Ottawa Correctional Complex in Kemptville, and further invest in Ontario’s correctional system.
